Families
"Why is it that we go to church in the family car, walk in together, and go our separate ways not to reunite until we get back in the car after church?"
Too many times this question describes the church's practice. We have asked the important question, "What is the role of the church in families?" Our answer includes the following elements:
- Families need a shared experience at church.
This is what KidStuf is all about. Families with kids 5th grade and younger are encouraged to be a part of this fun environment where key virtues are taught in a way that the whole family will discuss all week long. Available to all are tools such as "Family Times" packs which help parents reinforce values in creative ways. Worship is another environment where families are encouraged to be together.
- Families need more time at home and play together.
We try to keep our services streamlined so people will not feel pressured to "go to church" several times each week. Sundays are simple -- one main worship service. Even those "fully involved" who serve at Providence will find that we try to consolidate meetings in order to keep from eating up what we believe is precious -- family time.
